About Us
Never let a horrific reminder of your own mortality get in the way of a good platitude! That’s our motto here at Mortevations Headquarters.
Not that we actually HAVE headquarters. Or a lab. Or a dungeon. Or a creepy house in the woods. (Man we’ve made some bad choices with our lives!) What we do have is a cadre of twisted weirdos who want to provide inspirational messages to those who mock the “Love Laugh Love” crowd and flick their boogers at the corporate go-getters. I mean, just because an axe-wielding madman wants to show you your liver or an Eldritch horror wants to thrust you into a thousand years of madness, it doesn’t mean they don’t have some wisdom to impart.
That’s why we’re here: to utilize the horror zeitgeist to inspire and motivate (er, Mortevate) you to success. And it has nothing to do with the fact that we’re working through the issues we may or may not have had with some middle management asshat and figured that an art project was probably much more productive (and legal) than hitting up the dark web forums for “cleaners”. Honest.
So go ahead and hang one on the wall of your office to keep those irritating automatons at work on their toes. Put one up in the bathroom so you can ponder the futility of life at your most vulnerable. Heck, why not hang one in the kids’ room to remind them of the sheer horror and agony that awaits the rest of their life?
We even have postcards, so you can send Mortevations to your friends and enemies (I hear the Post Office needs the work).
A few of our Moretevations feature some spicy language. We apologize for nothing. After all, if having your intestines ripped out through your face or having your soul consigned to the Void isn’t the right time to say a swear word, then we don’t know what is. If you don’t like the occasional bad language, there’s a very simple way to express your discontent and protest: don’t buy the damn thing. See? You’ve affected change in the world! Wasn’t that easy?
About the Imagery
To call these derivative would be an understatement. But hey, we’re messing with the zeitgeist here, so cut us some slack!
A goodly amount of the imagery sources from stock elements (all legally acquired and properly licensed). We then smash those elements together in a process we call DIGITAL IMAGE MANIPULATION (or DIM for short). And we take a bright view on DIM around here. (Oof. THAT pun probably wasn’t necessary). We’re kind of like professional chefs (or short order cooks): sometimes we grow our own ingredients, sometimes we get them from the supermarket. And then we mix them together and whip up the tasty casserole known as MORTEVATIONS!
In the same way that some tasty treats contain high-fructose corn syrup or red dye number 6, sometimes our ingredients are a bit more fake than others. While we’ve made a concerted effort to avoid any imagery that is AI-generated, some Skynet-style images may have slipped through. Some of it we’re aware of, but there very well could be other AIGI in the mix that we didn’t know about (even if we did acquire said imagery in good faith with the understanding that an actual human produced it). For those, we apologize. For any AI imagery we know about, feel free to judge us accordingly.
